On Monday, February the 7th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MHE) in Kurdistan region (KRG) started launching the National University Ranking (NUR) system, in June 2015, for all Universities of KRG. for that purpose, the MHE held a workshop at MHE conference hall for the state universities in the KRG. The University of Zakho was participated by Dr.Shlair Th. Noraldeen, Ms. Edi Kachal and Mr. Renas I. Mohammed.

The workshop was presented by Dr.Sheerwan, Dr.Salah I. Yahya and Dr Kanaan. The workshop was divided into three parts. The first part presented by Dr.Sheerwan which defined the NUR and reason for having NUR. The second Part was presented by Dr.Kanaan which gave the participants all the required information about the scores for the NUR scales. The last part was presented by Dr.Salah I. Yahya who designed the website with its system. He described and illustrated NUR system in details, as well as, how the website works and how to interact with it.

The main topics addressed were the following:
- Introducing NUR.
- Explanation how NUR works.
- Methodology and Goals of NUR.
- Breakdown the Score of the NUR scales.
- How NUR websites work.
- How to use NUR system and what are the requirements to edit and interact with NUR websites.

At the end, the purpose of this National University Ranking in KRG is to inform Universities about the methodologies behind the KRG Universities ranking, how far their visions meet the MHE vision, and show their potential impact.
